What is Genealogy?

Family research or Genealogy is a branch of historical studies that researches the roots and descendants of a selected person. The research may include studying the origins of the family, surrounding events and the present-day status of the lineage.

How is Family Research Done?

Family research attempts to study the personal history of family members from various sources. These sources can be, for example, parish registers, diaries, letters, school- or official registers, court transcripts or newspapers.

With this research we can create a thoroughly complete picture of a person´s family lines, and the social relationships with which these are connected. With the help of genealogy, we can also discover amusing or interesting details from generations of family members.
